Leadership

Chief Cody Carroll

Chief Cody Carroll came to Gilpin Ambulance in October 2022 after working briefly with UCHealth EMS in Fort Collins as a Field Training Officer. Before moving to Colorado in 2021, Cody served for 13 years with San Marcos Hays County EMS in San Marcos, TX, where he began his career as an EMT and promoted through the ranks to Battalion Chief of Training. While in San Marcos, Cody also served as a volunteer firefighter and Assistant Fire Chief and built, coordinated, and taught three EMT programs. Chief Carroll brings a wealth of leadership, operational, clinical, and educational experience to the organization. He is committed to finding new ways to address the challenges faced by prehospital personnel in Gilpin County and worldwide, and he is devoted to advancing prehospital medicine through the education and professional development of prehospital providers everywhere. Chief Carroll promotes using evidence-based medicine to facilitate better patient outcomes and making prehospital medicine a life-long career path on which people can thrive and prosper.

"If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking."

-General George S. Patton

Deputy Chief Bobby Putnam

Deputy Chief Bobby Putnam grew up in Gilpin County and is happy to be back serving the community he dearly loves. Chief Putnam began his career with Gilpin Ambulance in late 1980s before moving to the Metro Area to begin a career with what was then Denver General Paramedics. After 25 years of dedication to the City of Denver, he accepted a position as a Captain with UCHealth EMS in Fort Collins. In February of 2023, Gilpin Ambulance was honored to bring Bobby into the department as a Training Captain. While serving as a Captain, Bobby developed a standardized field training program for incoming providers, built a CE program that now provides continuing education for all the agencies in and around Gilpin County that employ EMTs and Paramedics, and built and implemented the GAA CARES Program. In October of 2024, Bobby was promoted to Deputy Chief. Chief Putnam brings decades of EMS leadership, operations, and education experience to the organization as well as unmatched passion for the health and well-being of his community and the people who serve it.
